Cold Front, Storms Headed to North Texas Over the Weekend

A cold front will bring much cooler temperatures to North Texas this weekend. Here's what residents can expect.

The National Weather Service Fort Worth/Dallas issued an alert about the cold front on Thursday afternoon. According to the bulletin, the cold front will arrive on Friday night into Saturday.

That will bring much cooler temperatures to the North Texas region, plus a chance for showers and storms. The NWS predicts scattered storms and showers will move in along the front Friday night, with lingering rain and isolated storms behind the front on Saturday.

The service also expects breezy north winds behind the front Saturday morning, with gusts of 25-30 mph.

The cool trend will continue into early next week, with highs in the 60s and 70s warming into the upper 70s and 80s by midweek. Low rain and storm chances are possible in parts of the area each day Monday through Wednesday.

When it comes to Dallas/Fort Worth, the NWS anticipates a 20% chance of rain and storms on Monday and Tuesday.

The Sherman/Denison area may avoid rain through Wednesday, but the NWS predicts Waco, Temple, and Killeen could see a 30% chance of rain and storms on Monday and Tuesday, as well as a 20% chance on Wednesday.

When it comes to Palestine, the NWS is currently projecting a 30% chance of rain and storms on Tuesday and a 20% chance of rain and storms on Wednesday.
