- Dallas entrepreneurs know their city is great for small businesses, and now the rest of the nation knows it, too. Personal finance website SmartAsset recently named Dallas County the best county in Texas and the No. 4 county in the United States overall for small businesses. To determine the rankings, SmartAsset examined federal data to consider the number of small businesses operating in each county, how much income they generate, and what they pay in taxes. According to Dallas Economic Development, nearly 80 percent of businesses in Dallas are small businesses, and they employ almost 40 percent of the city's workers. (CultureMap Dallas)
- Every high school football fan in Dallas had something to celebrate this weekend as South Oak Cliff claimed the state championship title. This victory was more than just a win for the school, though: It was the first time in over 50 years that a Dallas ISD school won the title. "The whole city of Dallas is excited for South Oak Cliff," said Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia of the historic win. (CBS Dallas / Fort Worth)
- Want a chance to see Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles? All you have to do is donate blood to your local Red Cross during the month of January. The American Red Cross will automatically enter all blood and plasma donors next month into a drawing for a chance to win tickets to the Super Bowl and a home theater package. Over the next few weeks, blood drives are happening at the Lowe's Dallas on Dec. 23 and the American Red Cross Dallas Chapter on Dec. 28, Dec. 30, and Jan. 3. There are also several other blood drives happening throughout Dallas on Dec. 28. (Dallas Patch)
