Here are the top stories in Dallas today:
- A Dallas paramedic's state license has been suspended after he was caught on camera kicking a homeless man in the head. Brad Cox, who was formerly licensed as an emergency medical technician - paramedic (EMT-P) has been on administrative leave since video surfaced in October of his actions toward a homeless man identified as Kyle Vess, who was taken to a hospital for his injuries. Cox has reportedly had a history of disciplinary issues during his time with the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department. (WFAA.com)
- Two arrests have been made in connection with a case of fraud and exploitation of an elderly Dallas woman. About a month ago, the 74-year old victim went into multiple banks with each of the suspects, 66-year-old Carlos Costello and 46-year-old Danita Costello, and attempted to withdraw large sums of money. According to police, the male suspect had been "leading on" the elderly victim as if they were in a romantic relationship, and had even proposed to her to obtain access to her (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- The story of the oldest living Tuskegee Airman, Brigadier General Charles McGee, is now a key part of The National Aviation Education Center. The Dallas-based center hopes the stories of pilots who overcame incredible odds will inspire a next generation of STEM students. (WFAA.com)
- West Dallas residents earned a win in their fight against industrial polluters this week as City Council voted unanimously to deny a specific use permit for a concrete batch plant in the neighborhood. (D Magazine)
- At least three people were killed in three separate crashes due to the heavy rains and storm conditions in parts of North Texas earlier this week. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
