🌱 Dallas ISP Ending Mask Mandate + Deadly Road Rage Incident

Here are the top stories today in Dallas:
- Assuming there are no big spikes in COVID-19 cases from the Omicron variant, Dallas Independent School District will be ending its mask mandate in January 2022. Superintendent Michael Hinojosa says DISD will end the mask mandate after the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, at which it will switch its policy to "masks recommended." Dallas was one of many Texas school districts that defied the governor's order prohibiting public schools to require masks on campus. (Fox4)
- A man is dead after being fatally shot by police who say the man pointed a weapon at them. Officers arrived at about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday to find a man armed with a gun at the 10400 block of Bear Creek Trail. Officials said officers began providing medical attention after the shooting but that the man died at the scene. (NBCDFW)
- On Monday night, a father was shot and killed during a road rage incident along U.S. 75 at the Woodall Rodgers ramp. 54-year-old Carl Edmiston was killed on Dec. 6 at around 10 p.m., while his 17-year-old son, who was shot in the leg, rode in the truck with him. Dallas police are increasing patrol and urging residents to "let cooler heads prevail," as road rage incidents continue to increase. (WFAA)

- A U.S. Navy veteran, Sergio Moriel, Jr., and Melissa Aguilar, an elementary school teacher, were killed in a weekend crash involving three suspected drunken drivers on the Central Expressway near Fitzhugh Avenue. (Fox4)
