Dallas Police Department Mourns Off-Duty Officer Death

The Dallas Police Department announced the death of one of its officers, Senior Corporal Christopher Blow, on Wednesday afternoon.

The department posted a statement from Chief Daniel C. Comeaux about the loss to social media. "It is with profound sadness that I share the loss of one of our own," Comeaux said.

According to the statement, Blow died on April 15 while off-duty following a medical emergency on an airplane. Blow had served the department with dedication since 2013 and was most recently assigned to the Vice Unit.

"This is a devastating loss for our department," Comeaux said. "Senior Corporal Blow committed his career to serving the people of Dallas, and his absence will be deeply felt by his colleagues, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him."

Comeaux continued, "We ask that you keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We will share additional information when it becomes available."

Back in 2022, Dallas Police Officer Jacob Arellano was killed in a wrong-way crash while off-duty but on the way to work. He was reportedly discovered to have been involved in the crash only after he failed to show up for his designated shift the next day.

Just last year, Dallas Police Officer Gabriel Bixby, also off-duty, died following a motorcycle crash in Hunt County. Bixby was a seven-year veteran of the department who worked with the Northeast Patrol Division.
