Dallas Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting on Medical District Drive

The Fugitive Unit pursued a suspect to the Children's Health Hospital parking lot.

Dallas Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in the 1900 block of Medical District Drive late Wednesday evening.

Dallas Police Chief Daniel C. Comeaux delivered a briefing to media on Thursday morning.

He said that the Fugitive Unit was conducting an investigation at approximately 11 p.m. when they encountered a wanted suspected who they pursued to the parking lot of the Children's Medical Center Dallas at 1934 Medical District.

He said the suspect became "barricaded" and officers used tear gas to successfully draw him out of the vehicle. When the man exited the vehicle, however, officers said he had a gun and pointed it at them.

"Officers shot and fired," Comeaux said. "At that time, we had the Dallas SWAT doctor render aid."

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured during the incident.

Fort Worth officers also shot and killed a man this week after he allegedly threatened them with broken glass as they attempted to stop him from jumping off of a bridge. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers sustained injuries in the event.
