Dallas Police Issue Statement on Shooting Incident at 2700 Gooch St.
Six people were detained as a result.
The Dallas Police Department issued a statement on a shooting incident that happened between alleged gang members at 2700 Gooch St.
The department posted a video statement from Chief Daniel C. Comeaux to social media on Wednesday evening.
To start the video, Comeaux said that the department had started an investigation into random gun violence between gang members a day earlier. "And it spilled over into today," he said.

He described random gunfire and gun rounds scattered about the scene where the incident took place.
"But the Dallas Police Department was on the scene when one gang was shooting at another gang," Comeaux said. "We were able to save lives by stopping this violence today."

Comeaux had a warning for anyone involved in this kind of activity. "We will not tolerate this in the City of Dallas," he said. "We're going to continue to investigate this, and we're going to put everyone in jail that is responsible."
He concluded the video by saying, "So far we have six people detained and we're going to figure out what charges that they'll be facing."
According to the Dallas County Gang Division, there are approximately 100 documented criminal street gangs and over 9,000 documented gang members operating in the area.
Criminal street gangs participate in various types of criminal activities and are largely driven by popular culture. That is how many gangs appeal to the children that they recruit on social media.
