Dallas Schedules Additional Mosquito Control Spraying This Weekend

Residents should avoid contact with the insecticide by staying indoors.

More mosquito samples in Dallas tested positive for West Nile Virus. Therefore, the city scheduled mosquito control spraying in three areas over the weekend.

The city announced the mosquito control activities in a Friday press release. According to the release, the spraying will take place between 9 p.m.-5 a.m. in three control areas each night from Saturday, June 13 to Sunday, June 14.

The first control area is in District 12, in an area generally bounded by 18700 Platte Riverway; Rosemeade Parkway on the north; Kelly Blvd. on the west; Marsh Ln. on the east; and Timberglen Rd. on the south.

The second control area is in District 2, in an area generally bounded by 2200 Colony Ct.; Denton Dr. on the north; Burbank St. on the west; Shea Rd. on the east; and Empire Central on the south.

The third control area is in District 11, in an area generally bounded by 6300 Northaven Rd.; Forest Ln. on the north; Northgate Circle on the west; Hillcrest Rd. on the east; and Brentfield Court on the south.

While the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency approves the insecticide for treatment, residents in the above areas should avoid contact with the spray by staying indoors.

Dallas residents are urged to take precautions against mosquito bites by reducing outdoor activity during the evening and nighttime hours. Residents who are outside during these times should cover their arms and legs and use a mosquito repellent.
