Dallasites Get Involved In Movember, A Men's Health Initiative
It's not too late to get involved in the festivities of Movember or No Shave November. Proceeds go to support men's health.

DALLAS, TX — Expect to see a slew mustaches this month as Movember (also known as No-Shave November) kicks off across the United States. Movember is a month dedicated to men's health awareness. Many men grow beards and mustaches to commemorate the annual occasion.
According to the Movember Foundation, testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged 15-34; each year about 8,850 new cases of testicular cancer are diagnosed. Additionally, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in the U.S. One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. And men's health issues go beyond just physical problems. More than three times as many men as women die by suicide in the U.S. To top it off, men are 24 percent less likely than women to have visited a doctor within the past year
The foundation works to change the way men care for themselves by changing the way men talk about their mental and physical health. Get involved by growing a mustache, taking the "Move Challenge," hosting an event, making a donation or attending an event.

Dallas business are getting involved with the cause as well. Pilates Methodology in Dallas is hosting two fundraising events that will support the Movember Foundation. Paul Perez, studio manager for Pilates Methodology, said the business uses the month of November to support men, a different group of people than their usual demographic.
"I guess we’ve always — this business, Pilates Methodology — has always been for supporting of our community," he said. "In the pilates industry, we have mostly a women’s demographic. But we’re also wanting to support our men of pilates. We’ve known people who’ve gone through prostate cancer, testicular cancer."
