Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:
- DART light rail is forced to go slower due to rising temperatures. The speed restrictions will take place between 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. today, Jul. 20. The vehicles will not operate above 30 miles per hour during the speed restrictions. Delays will occur due to the restrictions. The rails bow due to the high temperatures. (CultureMap Dallas)
- A new report indicates that the North Texas population has soared past eight million. The region's population is now larger than the entire state of Washington. The population has nearly doubled since 1990, according to the North Central Texas Council of Governments. (CultureMap Dallas)
- Dallas-Fort Worth is leading the country in the largest increase to the median home sale prices. The increase is almost 30 percent compared to last year. The new median home sales price in Dallas is $426,000. The home sales price has lowered by about $4,000 since the Federal Reserve raised interest rates. (WFAA.com)
