1. A Dallas homicide detective was celebrated Tuesday for helping save the life of a defense attorney who had a massive heart attack just as a murder trial was getting underway. Det. Frank Serra was recognized with a Lifesaving Bar for his heroics in Judge Brandon Birmingham's courtroom on Sept. 25. when defense attorney Allen Fishburn suffered from a heart attack. (FOX 4 Dallas)
2. Several Dallas Cowboys alumni teamed up with Tom Thumb-Albertson's and the Salvation Army of North Texas to make Thanksgiving special for those in need. They weren't the only ones making sure no families go without a meal this holiday. (FOX 4 Dallas)
3. A recent study from Construction Coverage found that 4.3% of Dallas-area households reported seeing a rodent in the home within the last year, and 18.7% had seen at least one cockroach. (WFAA.com)
4. Dallas ISD's Homeless Education Program helped 4,400 students last year with school supplies, clothing, and counseling. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)

Holiday spending for 2021 is expected to shatter previous records, following a year of people being cooped up and trying to get out early to avoid supply shortages, which is welcome news for the Toy Maven and other locally-owned shops in Dallas still recovering from the 2019 tornado and the pandemic slump.
