Here are the top stories in Dallas today:

  1. Dallas ISD is working to re-engage high schoolers who fell behind during COVID-19 remote learning over the last school year. More than 6,700 students have enrolled in courses designed to help them catch up when life circumstances interrupt their traditional schooling, such as needing to take on jobs to support their families, dealing with pandemic-related mental health issues, and facing housing instability. DISD has established teams at high schools to locate students not yet enrolled to encourage them to finish out the courses needed to earn a diploma. (The Dallas Morning News)
  2. Aaron Tschritter, the Canadian man who was reported missing after he never showed up to the Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day game, passed away in a Dallas car crash, according to family members. Tschritter was last seen leaving a club on Thursday around 2 a.m., and shortly after, police said that a car collided with a building and electric pole at 1600 S. Good Latimer Expressway and caught fire. Despite attempts by Dallas Fire Rescue and bystanders to rescue the two male occupants, they were pronounced deceased. Tschritter's family believes the passenger in that wreck was Tschritter, and have posted about his death on social media. (CBS Dallas / Fort Worth)
  3. One Dallas County Sheriff's deputy is injured and two people are dead following a sequence of two separate, but unrelated, fatal car crashes that took place along I-35 in Dallas over the weekend.(WFAA.com)
  4. Enchant Christmas, a beloved North Texas holiday tradition with dazzling lights and delicious seasonal treats, opened this weekend in Dallas' Fair Park, with its opening night completely sold out. (FOX 4 Dallas)
