- Now 111 years after his death, Dallas acknowledged the lynching of Allen Brooks. A marker now stands at Main and Akard streets in downtown Dallas. George Keaton Jr., the executive director of nonprofit Remembering Black Dallas, plans to host an essay program for local high school students to analyze the event's history and how it echoes in the present day.
