DUNCANVILLE, TX — Competitors on two North Texas high school basketball teams brawled Tuesday after a game at Sandra Meadows Arena in Duncanville. Just as the game wrapped up and DeSoto began celebrating it's 67-46 victory over Duncanville, punches were thrown between several players, the Fort Worth Star Telegram reported.
The fight was caught on camera and shared by Jabari Johnson, a former UT Arlington player and the creator of a sports mentorship program called The Heads Up! Foundation.
The video he shared was accompanied by the caption, "I hate we had to witness this ugly scene tonite (sic) there's no place for this in the game of [basketball]. Players suffered injuries & its likely that suspensions will impact both teams moving forward..."

Meanwhile, a commentator can be heard over the sound system saying, ""Fighting will result in a one-game suspension. Do you want to be suspended for your next game? Calm down. Go home."
He was later heard adding, "Is this how you want to end your season? Please stop throwing objects on the court."

DeSoto ISD issued a statement statement Wednesday disapproving of the fight, the Star Telegram reported.
"DeSoto ISD does not condone the actions of the young men involved in the altercation that took place at last night's basketball game at Duncanville High School. DeSoto administrators are in the process of reviewing what happened. We are working with Duncanville ISD's athletics administrators in addition to UIL to determine who was involved, where discipline is applicable and what next steps are in order as a result of last night's incident."
Duncanville ISD also issued a statement to the Star Telegram, which read, in part:
"The review process will identify who was involved and determine appropriate discipline. Once final, the results will be reported to the UIL. Working together with DeSoto ISD, we are also taking steps to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future."
The UIL responded, writing, "The UIL is aware of the altercation between the Duncanville and DeSoto boys basketball teams on Tuesday, Feb. 6. We take these matters extremely seriously and the UIL State Executive Committee will evaluate this incident for potential penalties in addition to any action taken by the schools and district executive committee. The SEC will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 13."
Johnson issued a plea Wednesday on Twitter asking everyone who brought the story to the public's attention to be just as cooperative in supporting his mentees through the Heads Up! Foundation.
"After last night's game/incident between Duncanville & DeSoto, I've received a lot of attention re: OUR boys on both teams and what happens next," he wrote. "I hope I can count on the same level of attention and SUPPORT from all angles for our upcoming mentoring efforts for these young boys and girls as well as your active participation in the Student-Athlete Townhall to discuss real solutions to prevent this and the importance of positive sportsmanship and spectator conduct. Details coming soon."
It's unknown at this time what spurred the brawl.
