Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:

  1. Three firefighters with the Dallas Fire Department have filed a lawsuit against Atmos Energy, apartment complex owners, and apartment management in response to a fire on Sept. 29, 2021. The three firefighters suffered severe burns and permanent injuries from a natural gas explosion at Highland Hills Apartments. The lawsuit claims negligence and liability towards the parties due to gun violence within the apartment complex that allegedly started the fire. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  2. The Dallas Independent School District announced that the district will be closed today in response to the winter storm hitting the area. Parents were allowed to pick their children up early from school on Wednesday but busses ran on schedule. Click for a full list of school closures in the North Texas area. (CW33 NewsFix)
  3. In anticipation of severe winter weather hitting the Dallas region, Southwest and American Airlines canceled more than 1,000 flights at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and at Dallas Love Field. The winter storm warning is in effect until 6:00 p.m. today. The storm system will likely bring sleet and freezing rain to Dallas which makes flights hazardous. (Dallas Patch)
