Freezing Rain Possible For Parts Of North Texas This Weekend

Drivers across North Texas could run into slick roadways Saturday night into Sunday morning.

DALLAS, TX — North Texans could see some sleet and freezing rain the weekend of New Year's Eve. According to data from the National Weather Service, a strong cold front slated to hit the area Saturday will bring freezing temperatures and a potential for freezing drizzle overnight Saturday.

Although chances of any real freezing precipitation remain low, slick roads are possible Saturday night into Sunday morning. Drivers should do so with caution.

Texas Department of Transportation has begun pre-treating roadways with a salt-bring solution. Roads in Collin, Denton and Dallas counties have been treated in anticipation of freezing rain, and Kaufman, Rockwall, Ellis and Navarro counties will be treated before the winter weather strikes.
