Girl, 9, Killed In Dallas Gang-Related Shooting: Police

Police said the suspects in the shooting fired into the wrong apartment Wednesday evening, killing the 9-year-old girl.

DALLAS, TX — A 9-year-old girl was killed in Dallas after she was mistakenly targeted in a shooting that police said was gang-related.

The suspects involved in the shooting approached an apartment demanding that one of the tenants come outside, according to police. When that person refused, they suspects went to the back of the building and opened fire into the wrong apartment, cops said.

The 9-year-old girl was struck by gunfire. The shooting happened in the 3500 block of Munger Avenue Wednesday evening.

Cops began to give the girl CPR before she was taken to the hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue. The girl was pronounced dead at Baylor Hospital.

The child's name is not being released out of respect for the family, cops said.
