Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:

  1. The Dallas Police Department will purchase eighty new license plate reading cameras. The new cameras will be placed around the city with the intent to track vehicles around the clock. The additions will cost roughly $820,000 over the course of five years. The proposed contract will approve the purchase from Flock Group, Inc and covers the installation of the cameras.   2. A graffiti artist has painted on the Dallas Federal Reserve building. The mural depicts a red thumbs-down icon to the left of the Federal Reserve seal. There are security cameras surrounding the building but no report has been given as to who painted the building. (D Magazine)
  3. Two Dallas Police Department officers have been charged with actions during protests in 2020. Sr. Cpl. Ryan Mabry and former Sr. Cpl. Melvin Williams have both gotten lawyers and are looking to fight the charges. Mabry has been put on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation while Williams was fired from an incident in July. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
