Grapevine Crime Roundup: Thefts And Police Blotter
Grapevine police seek a woman accused of stealing a wallet left behind at a Target store, and drivers are encouraged to lock their cars.
GRAPEVINE, TX — Vehicle break-ins, a stolen wallet, car theft and fraudulent check writing were among the crimes listed in this week's crime roundup. Police ask for the public's help identifying a woman accused of stealing a wallet, shown in the above video, and warn drivers to lock their cars every time they leave the vehicle.
Wallet Theft:
The alleged wallet theft took place Dec. 27, 2017, around 1:00 p.m. inside a Target store. Police say the victim mistakenly left her wallet behind at the customer service desk. Another customer approached and hid the wallet under her own bag before walking away with it. Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call Grapevine police during business hours at 817-410-3200. After hours tips can be placed through the non-emergency dispatch line at 817-410-8127.

Purse Snatching Incidents:
On Jan. 4, Grapevine police received three separate reports of car break-ins where purses were stolen from unlocked cars. Each of the thefts took place between 5:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Two thefts happened while the victims were standing outside their cars pumping gas. The third happened when a woman left her vehicle running while she went inside a daycare to pick up her child. Police report a small child was left in the running car, and that he or she witnessed the thief steal the purse.

Police want to remind each driver to lock his or her car, even while they're pumping gas. Daycares, schools and gas stations are the most likely targets for these types of crimes.
Two of the crimes occurred at Shell gas stations in the 1700 block of North SH-121 and the 5300 block of William D. Tate Ave. The third occurred at a daycare in the 5200 block of Champagne Blvd.
Public information officer Amanda McNew told Patch two victims reported seeing suspects with similar descriptions. The third was unable to describe the suspect who took her purse.
