Gunman Kills 2, Injures 4, Before Taking Own Life Near Fort Worth

Three police officers were injured while exchanging gunfire with the suspect, who later turned the gun on himself, authorities said.

HALTOM CITY, TX — Two people were killed and four others injured when a shooter opened fire at a Haltom City residence this weekend before turning the weapon on himself, according to authorities. Three police officers were among the injured.

At a news conference held Saturday night, authorities said officers responded to a 911 call about shots fired at a residence. When police arrived at the home, they found a man and woman dead, as well as an elderly woman suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, Alexander said.

Following the discovery, the suspect exchanged gunfire with authorities, injuring three police officers, officials confirmed.

One officer was hit in the right arm, finger, and leg, authorities said. Another was hit in both legs and a third was hit in the upper thigh. The three officers were male, and their injuries were considered non-life-threatening, according to officials.

The shooter then turned the weapon on himself, according to police. He died near the 3900 block of Golden Oaks from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

According to authorities, the shooter had a military-style rifle and a handgun near him when he died.
