Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:
- The Dallas Police Department is currently searching for a gunman that shot a victim while he was inside his vehicle on Saturday morning. The department responded to the incident in the 2300 block of Pacific Avenue around 3:20 a.m. Gustavo Lopez Estrada, 27, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact CrimeStoppers for a possible $5,000 reward. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- Dallas' H.O.P.E. Health Center has been distributing monkeypox vaccines. The vaccines are vital in responding to the 1,119 confirmed monkeypox cases in Texas and the 389 confirmed cases reported in Dallas County. The Eligibility Prescreener has been temporarily closed due to the vaccine appointment slot being filled. - A First Alert Weather Day has been declared for today in the North Texas region. The alert was announced by the National Weather Service in response to heavy rain impacting the region which could lead to flooding. The rain is expected to linger for hours and be widespread. (CBS Dallas)
