Hall Of Fame Basketball Legend Shaquille O’Neal Visits Dallas

O'Neal's appreciation for law enforcement agencies around the country dates back to the early 2000s.

DALLAS, TX -- NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal made a surprise visit to the Dallas Police Department Wednesday. O’Neal, who was enshrined in the NBA Hall of Fame, received 15 All-Stat selctions, and won four NBA Championships, handed out gift cards to members of the department, signed autographs, and took photos.

"The 7’1″ gentle giant met briefly with the command staff and then shared the Christmas spirit with other members of the department," DPD wrote in a news release.

It's unclear why O'Neal was in town; this story will be updated once that info becomes available.

O'Neal has a well documented affinity for law enforcement, having been made an "honorary deputy" by the sheriff's department in Bedford County, Virginia, in 2006. He was also sworn in as a sheriff's deputy for Clayton County Sheriff's Department in 2016.
