Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:

  1. A helicopter crash near Dallas killed two people on Friday. The crash occurred in a vacant lot in a commercial strip on Texas 66 with witnesses reporting that the helicopter's tail rotor broke while the vehicle was midair. There were no reported injuries other than the deaths of the two passengers. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
  2. Coldplay's Music of the Spheres international tour makes its first stop in Dallas. The famous band will be playing on May 6 at the Cotton Bowl Stadium. The concert will use stationary bikes and kinetic dance floors to power their equipment in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  3. Mackenzie Scott has donated $9 million to the Dallas area Habitat for Humanity. Scott is the ex-wife of Jeff Bezos. The $9 million gift is part of a larger $463 million gift to the nonprofit's 83 affiliates. The funds will be used to build homes in West Dallas, according to the nonprofit.
