- Multiple highway road closures could impact commutes this week in Dallas, Mesquite, and Garland. The Texas Department of Transportation announced several daytime lane closures (9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and Sunday) along city streets and frontage roads connected to I-635. There will also be some overnight highway lane closures, some beginning as early as 8 p.m. and ending as late as 8 a.m. the next day. (The Dallas Morning News)
- Residents of the Lakewood neighborhood of Dallas are on high alert after a 9-year-old boy was almost kidnapped on Sept. 17. Footage from a Ring doorbell at a home on La Vista showed a white, four-door sedan slowly driving through the neighborhood. The driver of the vehicle, described as a Black man of average height, a thick, muscular build, and around 50 years of age, approached the nearly-kidnapped boy on foot on the 6900 block of Lakeshore. The child ran away and was not injured, but the family has alerted the Lakewood Neighborhood Association. (CBS Dallas / Fort Worth)
- Dallas Police say a 41-year-old woman was killed and another woman was injured around 1:00 a.m. on Monday after a man shot them both following a verbal dispute near the Williams Chicken on the 2800 block of East Ledbetter Drive. (WFAA.com)
- Thousands of jobs are up for grabs in Dallas-Fort Worth, with North Texas companies actively competing to attract workers. (Free: Flipboard; Subscription: The Dallas Morning News)
- A "Friends"-themed pop-up bar will temporarily take over the Shops at Willow Bend starting in November, bringing fans of the hit sitcom a taste of the fictional Central Perk. (Eater Dallas)
