- The Dallas Police Department's Child Abuse Unit is investigating the tragic death of a 5-year-old boy. The department responded to a home in the 2800 block of Silkwood Street to discover that the injured child had died. There have not been any arrests made yet but witnesses have been questioned at the Child Advocacy Center. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- Firework season is finally here, but where are the best fireworks in the Dallas area? Residents can purchase the consumer-grade explosives at numerous pop-up firework displays throughout the North Texas area. - Dallas-based life insurance startup Bestow laid off 41 employees on Friday. The layoffs accounted for 14 percent of the startup's total staff. Each employee will reportedly receive a severance package and COBRA health insurance, and will also be allowed to retain electronic devices. (The Dallas Morning News)
