Irving Police Investigate Christmas Eve Homicide Of 17-Year-Old
An alleged marijuana sale in Irving turned deadly Sunday after a suspect shot a 17-year-old in the chest, police say.

IRVING, TX — Authorities in Irving are investigating the deadly shooting of a 17-year-old male that occurred Dec. 24 around 9:08 p.m.
The victim, identified as Brett Adkins of Plano, was found injured by a gunshot to the chest in the 200 block of Red River Trail after an incident authorities said began as a marijuana deal.
In a press release from Irving Police Department, investigators said a suspect brandished a gun during the sale, and a fight broke out. One suspect fired the round that struck Adkins, and both suspects fled the scene.

Adkins was taken to Baylor Hospital in Grapevine where he was pronounced deceased after midnight.
