MLK Day 2018: What's Open, Closed In Dallas

From grocery stores to government offices, here's a look at what is open and closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Dallas.

DALLAS, TX — Martin Luther King Jr. Day is only a few days away — that means some people will be away from work and celebrating the holiday with friends and family. But not every store or office will be closed. Here's a look at Dallas stores, government offices and more — and their hours for Monday.

  • Post offices: Closed
  • Federal offices: Closed
  • City of Dallas offices and libraries: Closed
  • City of Dallas Recreation Centers: Open
  • Animal Services: Shelter and Administrative offices will close on Monday, Jan. 18. Animal Services staff will be available to respond to emergency calls. All calls will be handled through 311. Everyday Adoption Center at 16821 N. Coit Rd. will open 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Sanitation: Administrative offices closed; garbage and recycling will be collected as scheduled for residential customers. Week 3 Bulk & Brush collections begin on Monday, Jan. 18. Transfer stations and the McCommas Bluff landfill will be open.
  • Dallas County Offices: Closed
  • Local Schools: Staff Development Day
  • Banks: Most banks will be closed Monday. Call your bank for more information.
  • Grocery Stores: Most grocery stores will be open Monday.
