Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:

  1. Dallas' Jose Abel Arriaga Contreras, 25, has been arrested for his involvement in a tragic crash that killed three individuals in Kaufman County. He is facing three charges of manslaughter with a bond set at $3 million. He allegedly crashed his pickup truck into a family of three on Aug. 7. Ana Teresa Guzman De Pena, 49, Jessica Nayeli Pena Guzman, 23, and Pena Guzman, 2, died as a result of the crash. (WFAA.com)
  2. A new cat cafe is opening in Dallas. The Cat Café is operated by the nonprofit A Voice for All Paws and will serve as a cat sanctuary. It will be located next to an adoption center and luxury boarding center in East Dallas. The location plans to open in late 2022 after some building renovations. (CultureMap Dallas)
  3. Dallas' Code Compliance Department officers will soon wear body cameras. The city's proposed budget for fiscal 2023 has designated funds to purchase the 297 cameras for the code compliance officers. They will reportedly improve officer safety while increasing accountability and training. (KERA News)
