New Residence Building Brings Homes and Amenities to Highland Springs

Trailside Commons, the newest residence building at Highland Springs, an Erickson Senior Living community in North Dallas, Tex., is now open! Residents began moving into their stylish, maintenance-free homes in the spring.

In addition to 140 new residences, Trailside Commons has a host of amenities, including two new restaurants, a media lounge, and a creative arts studio. Outside, beautifully landscaped walking paths lead to a peaceful courtyard.

"Residents are enjoying the comfort and convenience of Trailside Commons," says Sales Director Christina Christie. "Now, we enter into the final phase for our Eastside neighborhood. The last residence building, Mockingbird Greene, is projected to open in 2027."

Floor plan features

Trailside Commons offers a dozen floor plans to choose from, including two brand-new designs. One of them is the Dennison, which boasts one bedroom, a full bath, a half bath, and a den.

"The Dennison is very popular," notes Christie. "They sell quickly! Residents love having a den, as it can double as an office, TV room, library, craft room--whatever they like."

The second new design includes two bedrooms, two full baths, one half bath, and a den, perfect for entertaining or hosting guests.

"Trailside Commons offers a range of options to suit every lifestyle," says Christie. "That was a big draw for many prospective residents."

All homes in Trailside Commons also feature outdoor spaces, such as personal balconies, patios, or porches. Inside, gleaming quartz countertops grace kitchens, and most homes include spacious walk-in closets. Every residence has its own washer and dryer.

Awesome amenities

Among Trailside Commons' amenities are two restaurants, both opening soon. Skyline Cafe will be a fast-fresh eatery, offering grab-and-go meals for busy residents.

Residents are very excited about Pegasus, which will boast a two-story stone fireplace, outdoor seating, and an exhibition-style kitchen, allowing diners to watch their meals be prepared by professional chefs.

Because Trailside Commons is connected to Eastside neighborhood, residents will also have easy access to everything in the neighborhood's clubhouse, including a state-of-the-art fitness center, woodshop, pickleball court, lounge, and reading room.

"They will be within reasonable walking distance of several other amenities and excellent dining venues," says Christie, pointing to the new Crescent Club restaurant, which features a bar and outdoor seating.

Home sweet home

When Ken and Roxanne Kalichak started exploring their senior living options, they were looking for a retirement community that would offer an active lifestyle and peace of mind for the future. Highland Springs checked both boxes.

"We really liked the size of the campus," says Ken. "There are so many options for making new friends-- so many activities and established clubs and groups. It's just a nice community."

"When we went on a tour, we met some really nice people," Roxanne adds. "We liked what we saw, so we signed up for the Priority List right away."

Because of their Priority List status, Ken and Roxanne had the opportunity to sign up for a Live the Life stay--an overnight experience in a furnished guest suite that allows members to enjoy amenities, dine at on-campus restaurants, and chat with current residents.

Following their enjoyable stay, the couple learned that Trailside Commons would open in 2026--and knew it was exactly where they wanted to be. "That gave us the time frame we were looking for to downsize and prepare for our move," Roxanne says.

Ken and Roxanne chose a bright two-bedroom, two-bath floor plan on the fifth floor of Trailside Commons.

A vibrant lifestyle

Now that Ken and Roxanne are settled in their new home, they look forward to taking advantage of everything Highland Springs has to offer.

Ken, a longtime golfer, plans to join a resident golf group and check out the on-site woodshop. Roxanne is eager to try her green thumb in the community garden.

"I'm also looking forward to working up a plan with a personal trainer at the fitness center," she says. "And we love that they bring in guest speakers and entertainment. We're just so excited about being involved in the whole Highland Springs community!"
