One Dead After Officer Involved Shooting In Irving

The suspect rammed his truck into a police car and several other vehicles after he was reportedly caught breaking into cars in a parking lot

IRVING, TX — One man is dead following a Monday morning officer involved shooting in Irving.

According to a press release from Irving Police Department, officers responded around 1:07 a.m. to a report of a man seen breaking into vehicles in a parking lot in the 3200 block of Finley Road.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspect reportedly got into his truck and tried to flee the scene. During his flight, he rammed a police car and several other vehicles in the parking lot, according to the release.

The officer, who was not identified in the report, fired shots toward the suspect. At least one round struck the suspect, who was taken to Parkland Hospital.

The suspect, who has not yet been identified, died from his injuries.

No officers were injured in the incident, the release states. An investigation by the department's Criminal Investigations Division and Internal Affairs Division is underway.
