One injured in Town East Mall shooting incident over the weekend
Mesquite police swiftly apprehended the alleged suspect following the shooting

Mesquite, Texas - Town East Mall in Mesquite was the site of a concerning event involving firearms over the weekend.
One person was injured during the reported shooting within the mall on Saturday evening.
Mesquite police responded to the incident around 6:46 p.m. after receiving calls about gunshots. Officers promptly arrested the alleged suspect, 39-year-old Zettie Minter from Dallas.

Upon his detention, Minter faced charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and illegal firearm possession by a previously convicted individual. The police's timely response followed multiple 911 calls, which pinpointed the source of the gunshots to the mall's lower level near the I-635 entrance.
Further investigation showed that one individual had been injured by the gunfire and was taken to a nearby hospital, where they were declared stable.

Additional information unveiled a pre-existing acquaintance between Minter and the injured party. The altercation that led to the shooting appeared to have started inside a retail store within the mall.
Authorities clarified that this was not an "active shooter" situation and emphasized that there was no broader public safety concern.
To facilitate a comprehensive investigation, the I-635 entrance to the mall was temporarily closed. However, the remainder of the mall continued operations, aiming to maintain normal operations for its patrons.
