Pawn Shop Owner Sure Huge Diamond Stolen, Looks For Owner

The owner of Purple Heart Pawn in Fort Worth is doing his best to return a valuable diamond ring he thinks was stolen.

FORT WORTH, TX — One Fort Worth pawn shop owner turned good Samaritan Tuesday when he pleaded for help reuniting a likely stolen, and certainly valuable, ring with its owner.

Michael Meyer of Purple Heart Pawn said in a video on Facebook he first became suspicious that the seller was trying to pawn stolen items when he tried to sell a pair of Apple EarPods. Meyers said he tried to pair the EarPods to his phone, but they appeared to be registered to an owner named Lacey.

The same seller then brought out the diamond ring, which Meyer estimated could be worth up to $20,000.

Meyer said in the video that when he first saw the ring he thought, "holy crap, that is a big diamond." He said he tested the diamond and confirmed that it's real and most likely a 2-3 carat rock. The seller, he said, was asking only $100 for the ring.

So Meyer paid the $100 and bought the ring. He then set to work on finding the ring's owner, who he thinks also owns the EarPods. In the Facebook video, Meyer asks viewers to make the video go viral.

He said he will return the ring to its rightful owner for free if he or she can provide identification and proof of purchase or an appraisal that describes the ring.
