Dallas, Texas - An off-duty officer from the Plano Police Department found himself in a confrontational situation when, according to officials, he was shot at by suspects at the Winsted at White Rock apartments, situated in the 2200 block of Winsted Drive near White Rock Lake.

The incident took place at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8. The officer was alerted to potential disturbances around his personal vehicle, which, as Plano police noted, was "being tampered with." Acting on this information, the officer decided to inspect the situation.

Official reports indicate that upon his approach, the officer became the target of "multiple" suspects who fired shots at him. The officer, showing his trained response, returned fire. He fortunately emerged from the altercation unharmed. Preliminary findings suggest that the suspects were also unharmed, but the event took a puzzling turn when they fled the scene in a vehicle. The uncertainty regarding whether the suspects fled in their own vehicle or the officer's remains unresolved.

Officials from Plano confirmed that the officer has been with their force for about a year. However, additional details about the event are limited.

This incident has heightened concerns in the community, as it represents the second incident of violence seemingly connected to vehicle burglary in East Dallas in just a week.

Highlighting the risks residents face, another event on Thursday, August 3, saw Jesse Simmons, a technician specializing in A/C and appliances, confronting an individual allegedly trying to break into his work truck. The confrontation escalated when Simmons was shot near his home on Donegal Drive, situated on White Rock Lake's northeast side.

Simmons, having survived the shooting, is now grappling with recovery after the bullet impacted near his spine. Similar to the incident with the Plano officer, there have been no arrests in this case either.
