Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:

  1. The Dallas City Council has tabled the redistricting decision until Jun. 22. The extra time is meant to give council members additional time to meet with constituents and submit modifications. If the council cannot approve a redistricting map by Jun. 29, the Redistricting Commission's map will be used. (D Magazine)
  2. This weekend is the Taste of Dallas. The popular event will be Friday through Sunday at various times. The event will offer the community the chance to taste and experience the best food that Dallas has to offer. Click for the full event map. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here. (CW33 Dallas)
  3. Dallas health officials report that a Dallas man infected with the MonkeyPox violated quarantine advice. The 48-year-old man began showing symptoms while on vacation and ignored quarantine advice before boarding a plane back to Texas. From our sponsor:

Are you a Dallas resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?

Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.

Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.

Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
