Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:
- Dallas has mandated routine breaks for construction workers. The ordinance is in response to the recent extreme heat that is dangerous for those working outdoors. A 10-minute break is mandated for every four hours worked with no employee being required to work more than 3.5 hours without a break. A violation could cost an employer between $100 to $500 each day. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson has released a statement regarding the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The mayor has called the incident an immense tragedy and reprehensible. He said that the City of Dallas stands against the violence and will grieve with Japan. (CW33 Dallas)
- This weekend, the Texas Restaurant Show will be held at the Dallas Convention Center. It officially kicks off today for its 85th year. Over 500 exhibits will be featured during the trade show. The event is meant to gather chefs together to educate and exhibit new innovations in food. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
