Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:
- Yesterday, Dallas first responders were trained on how to respond to a school shooting. The training was coordinated with the Dallas Independent School District. The training was in direct response to the tragic events that occurred in Uvalde, Texas. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- Officials with the City of Dallas report that they are making progress on the hundreds of homeless encampments within city limits. The number of homeless encampments dramatically increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. The current amount of complaints the city has received regarding the camps is at an all-time high. - A new study by WalletHub indicates that Dallas has one of the highest homicide rate increases in the country. According to the study, Dallas ranks 8th overall. Dallas was ranked the highest out of Texas cities. El Paso was ranked 14th, Austin ranked 32nd, and Forth Worth was ranked 37th. The nation is currently experiencing a dramatic increase in homicides.
