Here are the top stories today in Dallas:
- Dallas Independent School District Superintendent Michael Hinojosa said he will not shut schools down because of the recent COVID-19 surge. He stated that students don't learn as well when they're doing school remotely. The district has also extended its mask mandate for students and staff. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- Early Wednesday morning there was a fire at Stemmons Corridor. No one was injured after a fire engulfed a room at the hotel. The fire was likely caused by a mechanical malfunction and crews were able to extinguish it within an hour. (The Dallas Morning News)
- With COVID-19 surging, Dallas County has launched testing sites in Southern Dallas. These two megasites were created to meet the testing demand. These sites can be found at the Ellis-Davis Field House and the Samuel Grand Aquatic Center. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
