Soulman’s Bar-B-Que Celebrates Gun Barrel City Grand Opening This Weekend

Soulman’s Bar-B-Que is making its arrival in Gun Barrel City official this weekend with a Grand Opening Celebration bringing barbecue, giveaways and a little friendly competition to the Cedar Creek Lake community.

The celebration will take place Saturday, September 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new Soulman’s restaurant, 938 W. Main Street in Gun Barrel City.

Among the day’s highlights will be Soulman’s signature Rib Eating Contest, along with prizes and giveaways, Soulman’s merchandise, special food offers and activities designed for the whole family.

The Gun Barrel City restaurant opened earlier this summer, expanding the longtime Texas barbecue brand’s presence into the Cedar Creek Lake area. The location follows a September 15 ribbon cutting and is part of Soulman’s continued growth across North and East Texas.

Founded in 1974, Soulman’s has spent more than five decades building its reputation around traditional Texas barbecue cooked low and slow. The Gun Barrel City menu includes brisket, ribs, sausage, pulled pork, turkey and chicken, along with homemade sides and the brand’s well-known banana pudding.

“For more than 50 years, Soulman’s has believed that great barbecue has a way of bringing people together,” Soulman’s CEO Brett Randle said in announcing the opening. “That’s why we’re excited to join the Gun Barrel City community.”

The new location also comes as Soulman’s continues a broader period of expansion. The company has announced Gun Barrel City and Waxahachie among its newest markets while continuing to emphasize what it calls its “Big 3” operating priorities: great food, great service and cleanliness.

For Cedar Creek Lake residents, Saturday’s event is intended to be more than a traditional restaurant opening. It gives the community a chance to meet the Soulman’s team, sample the restaurant’s Texas barbecue and take part in a celebration built around the kind of communal dining experience that has helped sustain the brand for more than 50 years.
