Store Clerk Shoots Man In Attempted Robbery: Police

The man was found injured about three miles away from the store, police said.

DALLAS, TX — A man was arrested for robbery after he was shot during a hit on a store in Pleasant Grove early Tuesday morning.

Police allege the man, 32-year-old Mario Luera, entered the store in the 10200 block of Lake June Road around 12:45 a.m. and went behind the counter to steal items from the store.

He then pushed the clerk out of his way and threatened to steal the cash register, police said in a statement.

The clerk told police he feared for his life and pulled a gun. He fired a round and struck the suspect in the leg.

The robbery suspect fled in an unknown direction.

An hour later, police were sent to the 8000 block of Great Trinity Forest Way after an injured man was seen walking into a Texaco gas station.

Police said the man with the gunshot injury matched the suspect's description from the robbery earlier in the night.

Leura was taken to Baylor Hospital for treatment before being taken to Lew Sterritt Jail.

An investigation is ongoing, police said.
