Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:
- The City of Dallas' "Summer of Safety" campaign has reportedly resulted in progress. Violent crime in the city is apparently down by about four percent. The campaign's purpose was to offer fun alternatives to crime throughout the summer, such as waterparks and museums. Despite the stated success, the program is hoping to continue reducing the crime rate in Dallas. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- The Dallas Cowboys are preparing for the 2022-2023 regular season. The team's final preseason game was on Friday night. The first official game of the new season will be on Sun. - Dallas County courts are reportedly experiencing a backlog of pending cases. The mounting issue is causing a delay in justice and depriving the freedom of unjustly detained individuals unable to afford bail. The backlog is occurring in felony/misdemeanor criminal, civil, and family courts. (The Dallas Morning News)
