🌱 Tasmanian Tiger Rebirth + Convention Center Expansion Proposal

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Dallas.

(Patch Media)

Good morning, everybody! I'm back with your new copy of the Dallas Daily, fresh off the presses. Let's get this Wednesday started off right, with a quick dive into the most important things happening in town.

First, today's weather:

A thunderstorm around. High: 102 Low: 76.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Dallas who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Dallas Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:

  1. Dallas' Colossal Biosciences is working to bring back the Tasmanian tiger. The company has been working to bring back the wooly mammoth through an elephant hybrid. The Tasmanian tiger is the second species the company is working on using CRISPR technology. The project will further develop genetic rescue and gestational technologies. (dallasinnovates.com)
  2. The Dallas City Council has approved a special election for the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center expansion proposal. The issue will now appear on the Nov. 8 ballot. If Dallas voters approve of the proposal, the total hotel occupancy tax rate can be raised from 12 percent to 15 percent. This increase will likely provide the city with $1.5 billion over the next 30 years. (Community Impact Newspaper)
  3. One of the city's oldest sandwich shops has closed. Antoine's Foods first opened in 1962 and has been serving sandwiches ever since. Owners Samir and Maria Ayoub have been operating it since 1982. The owners are planning to retire. Dallas residents have been lamenting the closure on social media. (The Dallas Morning News)
