Things To Do In Dallas This Weekend: June 15 - 18

From a Juneteenth celebration to Oak Cliff's famed film festival, you're sure to find something to do this weekend.

DALLAS, TX — Although summer does not officially begin until next week, summertime events are happening left and right across Dallas. If you're looking for something fun to do, but you don't know where to start, take a quick look through our event guide.

1. Oak Cliff Film Festival

The festival is comprised of twenty-five feature-length films, with ten of the films having their Texas premiere at this year's festival. The festival also includes 40 short films, as well as filmmaking workshops, live music and parties.

The festival kicked off Thursday, June 14, but it continues through the weekend.

2. See a Dive-In Movie from Hurricane Harbor's Wave Pool

Take an evening trip to Hurricane Harbor for a night of "Thor: Ragnorok" in a wave pool. Guests are invited to hop on a tube, relax in the water, and take in a blockbuster. All movies start at approximately 8:15 p.m.


3. Celebrate DadFest at Shannon Brewing Co. in Keller

Head to Shannon Brewing in Keller for a day of brews, fun and all things dad. This Saturday, June 16, dads are invited to try limited release beers and enjoy other dad-tivities.


4. 2018 Best Southwest Juneteenth Celebration

Juneteenth is an American holiday that celebrates the end of slavery. The cities of Duncanville, DeSoto, Lancaster and Cedar Hill are joining forces to celebrate the occasion on Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Armstrong Park in Duncanville.

Activities include food vendors, a variety of art by local artists, cultural exhibits with live musical and dance performances and much more.


5. 30th Annual Texas Black Invitational Rodeo

Annual Rodeo Hoedown at the Fair Park African American Museum is a fun-filled evening the day before the Rodeo with food, Zydeco music, dancing and a host of other activities.

Friday, June 15, 2018 – 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, June 16, 2018 – 7:00 p.m.

This fast-paced sporting event is also an educationally enlightening experience that provides many of its almost 8,000 viewers with their first glimpse of the historical contribution that African Americans contributed to the settling of the western United States.
