The Top 10 Events In The Dallas Area This Weekend

Hundreds of holiday-themed events are scheduled for North Texas on Dec. 7-9. Here's 10 you shouldn't miss.

DALLAS, TX — It's the most wonderful time of the year, and organizations in and around Dallas want to make sure you experience it in all its glory. That's why organizers have put together hundreds of festive activities for folks of all ages.

The Gaylord Texan's annual "Ice!" exhibit has returned, and in true Gaylord fashion, it's magnificent. Based this year on a theme of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," visitors can enjoy Ma in her kerchief, Pa in his cap, two-story ice slides and a stunning nativity scene.

Ice! at The Gaylord Texan runs until Jan. 1, 2018. More than two million pounds of ice were used to create this holiday marvel.

  • Dec. 5 – 17, 2017, at the Winspear Opera House
  • "Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets (John Lee Beatty) and costumes (Robert Morgan) inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, while the Music and Book of Mel Marvin and Timothy Mason breathe new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas."

Enchant!

  • Globe Life Park in Arlington transforms into a winter wonderland complete with Christmas Light maze and market. This event runs until Dec. 31, 2017.
  • "Surrounded by millions of dazzling lights, the memories you make will last well beyond the holiday season. Get lost in the world's largest light maze. Take photos around the largest Christmas tree in North Texas. Glide around the ice-skating pond or waltz through the Enchant Christmas Market with over 85 vendors, including an Arlington favorite Texas Christkindle Market Lane, now a part of the Enchant experience. "
  • Free admission for children ages 4 and under.

Cowboys Christmas at the Star

  • Every Friday and Saturday night until Dec. 22.
  • "The Cowboys Christmas Spectacular is a weekly holiday performance showcasing the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue Dancers and Drumline, appearances by Santa and more. The Cowboys Christmas Spectacular will take place on Tostitos Championship Plaza at The Star every Friday and Saturday at 6pm. Admission and parking are free."

The Great Distance Home

9th Annual Jingle Bell Run

  • "The Naaman Forest Class of 2019 will be hosting the 9th Annual JINGLE BELL RUN at the Historic Downtown Garland Square on Saturday, December 9th. A great way to kick off the holiday season! Vendor booths & family fun!!! This 5k fun run event benefits the Garland Pet Adoption Center too! "

All Things Bright and Beautiful - George W. Library

  • At the George W. Bush Presidential Center, visitors will discover the beauty and excitement of the White House holiday. The all-new exhibit showcases gorgeous flowers and colorful murals, behind-the-scenes photos, Mrs. Bush’s holiday dress, BarneyCam videos, and more.

2017 BMW Dallas Marathon

  • A fun-packed weekend of fitness awaits Dallas as the BMW Dallas Marathon gets underway.

"Fade" from Dallas Theater Center
