Tornado Watch, Storm Warning In Effect For Parts Of North Texas

The tornado watch, which spans five cities east of Dallas, expires at 11:00 p.m. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Tarrant Co.

Five cities east of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex are under a tornado watch until 11:00 p.m. Sunday. The watch includes areas surrounding Paris, Greenville, Canton, Corsicana and Palestine.

The warning form the National Weather Service states conditions are "favorable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes." The Weather Service also warns of a threat of damaging wind gusts.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has also been issued for Northwestern Johnson County, Southeastern Parker County and Tarrant County until 4:15 p.m. High wind and hail are possible in these areas.

Additional Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for Delta, Fannin and Lamar counties around 3:55 p.m. The warnings will expire at 5:00 p.m.

People in these areas are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and be prepared to act if a warning is issued.
