Two North Texas Restaurants Among Best Southern Eateries

Restaurants in Dallas and Addison are among the nation's 50 best producers of southern-style delicacies.

DALLAS, TX — When people think of southern food, they may picture decadent, indulgent food ranging from chicken fried steak to corn bread to barbecue. And in the case of OpenTable's latest roundup of top-notch southern food, that's exactly what's on the menu.

For Rapscallion in Dallas' Lower Greenville nighborhood, southern-style food is all the rage. Offering southern staples like braised greens, cornmeal fried catfish, pimento cheese and a variety of decadent meats, Rapscallion was named one of OpenTable's top 50 southern restaurants.

According to OpenTable, Rapscallion offers a "unique, globally-influenced take on Southern fare featuring a wood grill and wood rotisserie, Cold Water oysters, raw bar, tiki cocktails, bourbon, an All American Wine List, and our Dry Aged Steak program."

Also topping the charts was Ida Claire in Addison. Described as "a funky, southern influenced restaurant and bar," Ida Claire made the list because of it's ability to blend southern staples with inventive flare — sandwiches served on biscuits, chicken and waffles, and cocktails made with in-house gin.
