Watch: Texas Officer Rescues Injured Hawk Stranded In Road

The hawk is expected to make a full recovery at a treatment center. Here's how you can monitor its progress.

CARROLLTON, TX — Carrollton Police Department's officer Tatom was caught on camera making a difference in the North Texas town.

In a video taken from a dashcam on Aug. 12, Tatom is seen approaching a Coopers Hawk sitting in the roadway. The department shared the recording on Facebook. In the video, Tatom can be heard calling for animal control regarding the hawk with a seemingly broken wing.

When Tatom is told animal control wouldn't arrive for another 30 minutes, Tatom takes the situation into his own hands.

The officer is then seen wrapping the hawk in a towel and moving it to safety in his squad car.

The bird was taken to the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center in Allen, Texas, where it is expected to make a full recovery.
