Woman Admits To Shooting Husband For Beating Family Cat: Police
Police said she was booked into Dallas County Jail before waiving her Miranda rights and confessing to the shooting.

DALLAS, TX — One Dallas woman faces a murder charge after confessing to police that she shot her husband as he was beating the family cat.
Police said officers were sent to the home of Mary Harrison, 47, around 6:45 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found a man injured and a woman ready to talk.
As her husband, Dexter, was rushed to Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, where he was later pronounced dead, Mary was taken to police headquarters where she made a confession, police say.

Harrison forewent her Miranda rights and admitted to the shooting, police say. She told police she had fired the shot as her husband was beating the family cat.
Harrison remains in Dallas County Jail on a charge of Murder and in lieu of $100,000 bail.

KTVT spoke with neighbors, who seemed unable to believe such a story.
“A man got shot over a cat? It’s kind of crazy. It’s unbelievable. A man loses his life over a cat. I mean, people love their pets, but it ain’t that serious… to die for a cat,” neighbor Carl Phillips told the news station.
