Woman Shoots Boyfriend, Possibly In Self-Defense, Police Say
The 25-year-old woman was arrested but later released from police custody after talking with detectives.

DALLAS, TX — One woman was arrested and later released from police custody after a Wednesday morning shooting in North Lake Highlands that left her 29-year-old boyfriend dead, Dallas police said.
The 25-year-old woman called 9-1-1 around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday to report that she had just shot her boyfriend, police said. When officers arrived at the scene in the 11500 block of Leisure Lane, the boyfriend, Wilton Tate, was found injured by a gunshot wound.
Tate was taken to an area hospital where he later died, police said.

The woman, Oshanique Banister, was arrested and read her Miranda rights, which she waived, police said. After detectives spoke with Banister and other witnesses, Banister was released from police custody.
Police said Banister does not face any current charges, and that the case will be referred to a grand jury.
