Woman Shoots Teen, Self In Arlington: Police

Police say a 40-year-old woman shot a teenager before shooting herself Sunday afternoon. The teen boy does not have lethal injuries.

ARLINGTON, TX — Police in Arlington are investigating a Sunday afternoon shooting that left a 13-year-old boy injured and a woman dead by a self-inflicted gunshot. Investigators believe the shooting began as a domestic dispute.

According to a statement from police, officers arrived at the scene of the shooting around 3:06 p.m. in the 600 block of W. Inwood Drive. Responders found the boy with a gunshot wound to his neck.

Police also found a woman in the back yard of the house with a gun. When police tried talking with her, she turned the gun on herself and shot a round into her chest, police said.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital but died of her injuries. The boy was also taken to a hospital with non-lethal injuries.

The exact cause of the shooting is not known, police say, but it's believed it began as a fight between two women. Police are treating the ongoing investigation as a domestic incident.
