2 Displaced After South Austin Fire
Fire crews responding to a conflagration along the 5000 block of Summerset Trail on Sunday found structure completely engulfed in flames.
SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A structure fire in the southwest portion of the city displaced two people before causing some $100,000 worth of damage on Sunday evening, officials said.
The Austin Fire Department responded to the 5301 Summerset Trail at around 8:30 p.m. where they found a one-room addition to a 2-story home engulfed in flames, officials wrote on Twitter. Ultimately, fire officials noted, no injuries were reported but two adult residents were displaced from their home that sustained a monetary loss of $75,000 in structural damage and more losses to the destroyed contents that were valued at $25,000.
Although the official cause of the fire is still undetermined, fire officials suggested it could have been electrical.
